No relief from heatwave as mercury soars across Assam

by - 11:19 PM

The state capital Guwahati on Thursday reeled under a heat wave with the mercury soaring to 36 degrees. In the last few days temperature has been soaring over 36 degree Celsius mark. The impact of heat is being witnessed till late evening. Winds remained hot even after sunset. People's hopes of relief seemed pinned on weather reports of rain — which too could prove elusive in several regions facing prolonged hot spell. Guwahati-based meteorological centre said further rise in temperature is expected unless rains hit the region. With the rise in temperatures, the State is also witnessing spurt in heat-related cases in hospitals. The main cases are related to stomach pain, vomiting, dehydration, heat stroke, nose bleeding and flotation in blood pressure.
