Massive violence during Assam bandh, vehicles damaged, several injured

Massive violence was reported across Assam during a 36-hour bandh in Assam called by pro- Schedule Tribe organizations.
 

The supporters resorted to stone-pelting on public transport vehicles, stopping people from travelling in private vehicles and blocking national highways with burning tyres.
 

One bus belonging to ASTC was damaged by bandh supporters at Demow in Sivasagar district.
 

One person was injured as miscreants attacked a vehicle at Lakhimpur. The seriously injured person was rushed to Guwahati for treatment.
 

Another vehicle carrying a pregnant woman to hospital was also attacked. The woman was injured in the incident.
 

One bolero SUV belonging to Monfort School was set on fire at Tinsukia.
 

In another incident, a bolero pickup van was damaged by bandh supporters at Sonari.
 

The bandh was strongly condemned by the common people and many other organizations.
