Bengali youths anti Hindu Bangladeshi problocktest rally in Morigaon

Tension prevailed in Morigaon district of Assam as some unscrupulous people tried to create communal clash on Tuesday.

Around 150 Bengali persons tried to block a peaceful protest rally organised by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) at Jhargaon Bazar. The rally was taken out in protest against move of the Central Government to amend the Citizenship Act to provide citizenship rights to the post-March 25, 1971 Hindu Bangla migrants and to settle them in the State.

The Bengali youths threatened the KMSS protesters and asked them to stop the protest rally. Some miscreants even physically assaulted the KMSS protesters.

Police officials from Mayong and Jagiroad reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The miscreants later shouted anti-Assam slogans and gheroad police personnel.

Local people and several organisations including the KMSS demanded action against the miscreants who tried to create communal tensions.
